handbags

Recommended Posts

I'm quite excited as I've just bought my first proper handbag for a long time. I got into the habit of having practical canvas rucksacks which would carry everything when the kids were small. It's tan coloured leather, cross body & I love it. I have a lovely winter coat which is basically 1940's in style and the two together look smart. OH said I look like a London clippie or that I am carrying a gas mask. Silly man, but I know what he means.

I've spent ages tonight deciding what pretty stuff to put in it instead of practical stuff like blister plasters. Slightly panicky that I can't cope with any problem without diving Mary Poppins style into my bag. Here goes. Wish me luck.

I am not fashionable and don't often buy clothes, but I lurve handbags - I buy all mine from TK Maxx, you have to hunt around but I've had some gorgeous ones.

My current bag is a bit untidy, but what works quite well is to use those sturdy plastic bags with seals, or similar - I used to have one with make-up bits in, one with Nurofen and plasters, and so on - then everything isn't all sliding around together and if you change bags, you can take it all out quickly. I must adopt that plan again, as I am forever hunting for my lip salve/work pass/pen in mine!

I bought my favourite bag EVER for my birthday. It's dusky pink with a flowery pattern that is so unlike me it's untrue! I usually live in walking boots with paint splattered clothes

One section is the 'medical' section, one for all the bits that might fall out including purse & the 3rd for anything else!

A friend loved it so much (NEXT darling!) that she sourced the original pattern for the bag as wallpaper from Holland at the princly sum of £165 a roll

I love handbags and woe betide me if i dare even sniff at a new one without my DD with me, the last one i bought she banned me from taking it into her house because i bought it without her with me .

I used to have one for every occasion but lately apart from it having to have a lippy pocket it now needs to be big enough to get my fold away walking stick into it. What i can't get into my bag is "Ooops, word censored!"odys business but be warned there are times i can't find anything in it despite knowing the desired object is in there.

I love handbags too. I have a drawer full of them upstairs in all sorts of colours and styles. Only got one that was expensive and that was from Karen Millen, but to be honest I haven't used it much. My favourite right now is a purple suede one I got from Next, so not an expensive one, but I find purple goes with so many other colours that I just love it :D
