My lawn is now very slippy & I have to cross it to get to the chickens (but I don't want to build a permanent path) - do you think these would be any good ?

It says that they are made of foam rather than rubber, so I suspect that they are for cushioning more than being non-slip

What about some of snow grip things that clip onto your own shoes. They've got little spikes on the bottom and a stretchy rubber fixing. I got mine from betterware/kleenezy about £12ish.

We use a roll out path very similiar to the one in the amazon link above, it is better than walking across the grass in winter but you do have to be careful as it does still get slippery in icy or frosty weather.

I've just emailed the company & they told me it probably wouldn't be the right thing, which was very honest of them. I've looked on Amazon for the Garden Track & that looks perfect

So that's my chicken shopping done - just ordered (from the comfort of my chair !!!) some bags of woodchip from Hens for Pets (they were the cheapest for delivery), some lawn edging to attach to cube run & keep it in this time (last lot washed down to the other end of garden & I'm now bored with scooping it up & bringing it back), some tarpaulins (in a rather cute camouflage colour) to cover the back part of my run, and a lovely garden track as recommended to stop us all from getting knee deep in mud each time we visit the girls.

There is something very satisfying in pimping up your Chickens home, whatever the weather.

I strangely even enjoy giving them a good clean out in the rain.

What about those moulded plastic mesh squares ( strong enough to take a small lorry) that they make temporary car parks out of? They allow graas to grow through, or you can fill the gaps with pea gravel. We are thinking of some for our track. Think you can get some with grips too.

My garden path just out side the WIR was thick with mud & leaves at the weekend where the girls had been digging for grubs etc and it was scattered everywhere. I was slipping and sliding every where , my OH had a load of sawdust in the garage and remembered when years ago they used to put sawdust on pub floors to soak up the beer slops

We scattered it all over ,left it for a few minutes and it soaked up the mud It was so easy to sweep up with the yardbroom.
