Sooo much pooping

Im going to collect a cube today, very excited! I'm wondering if I need to give it any special treatment before I put my girls in? It is clean, but I wonder if I should disinfect it maybe? Any advice for me?

If red mite lived in it (unlikely) they could survive in there without chickens for a while so I would give it a good clean if you can, even power wash it if that's an option. But then my cube was second hand and it was sparkly clean when it arrived so you might be lucky anyway. How exciting! Are you expanding your flock?

Spray it for red mite, power wash it, treat it again then put it together

What do you spray it with ?

I've have read a couple of instructions on an aerosol one that said not to be used on plastic housing. I think it was a Johnsons one but not sure of it's proper name. I've only ever used the red mite powder but would like to use something else when it runs out.

I use poultry Shield in the jet washer, the once dry give it a good dust down with buz busters

When you have washed and dried it use a little cooking oil and rub it on the out side it will make it shine like new.
