Bramble
Hi! Thought I would consult the Omlet Oracle about my current problem. I'm looking for a wardrobe for my spare room - it needn't be too heavy duty and I've seen the canvas type ones which I think would be fine, but they all seem to be about 87cm wide x 50+cm deep - does anyone know of anything smaller (in canvas or anything else), please? I don't think height is too much of a problem? Thanks everyone!
Guest
What about a childs/baby's wardrobe?
yvonne
Have you tried IKEA, they seem to have a huge range and we found the perfect sized shelves there after looking elsewhere. Also B&Q ?
freddie
look at the furniture charity shops, as they carry the old fashioned wardrobes, light as a feather, and very paintable, just make sure they smell ok, as sometimes they smell of damp! chickweed
Make sure you get a wardrobe that is deep enough to take a hanger with a jacket or coat on it. I have a small wardrobe where the clothes have to be hung at an angle and are very squashed when the door is shut. it's not much use at all. Lewis
Might sound stupid but how about getting 2 wardrobe rails and make your own to fit the space... Hang the one you'll put the coat hangers on, then another slightly higher (or a wooden box frame) and put a canvas curtain on it to pull around the clothes? ohcarolina
http://www.flickr.com/photos/63429320@N08/?saved=1 I'm not very good at pics and links but I had a similar situation. Bought a canvas covered robe from eBay and it was just too big for the space. So I bought an Argos shelf unit (still available for £25 but it was on offer when I got it), cut it to size (the pic shows the finished article between the wall and radiator) and rejigged the shelves leaving one at the top and bottom for strength. I then put the remaining two at the bottom for shoes etc and fitted a rail at the top (I happened to have some Rothley tube and brackets left over from some other project but it can be bought in B&Q). I use baskets for various 'bitsa'. Sorry that the rooms a tip (remember the New Years clear out resolution?) but hope you get the idea. The clothes do stick out but it works a treat and can look tidy.
