HELP aggressive chicken

I just wondered if anyone had ideas.

 

This morning I could not pull up the handle on the top of the to open the door to let the ex batts out.

 

It was frozen solid, the girls were getting very upset at not being let out.

 

Anyone got any ideas how I can stop this happening again tonight?

 

I am one of those omleteers who likes to shut the girls in at night so I don't really want to leave the door open

I had a similar problem with the bolt on my walk in run. It was frozen solid, strangely the water inside the drinking bowl inside the run was still a bit runny.

I *always* shut the door of my 'Lu's!

 

Tip: spray your handles with WD40. If you are concerned about the chemical element of WD40, then rub the mechanisms with some vasoline

I wondered if I could cover or fill it with something.

 

It was ok this morning as it was not so cold, but I did not push the handle right down last night it was down enough to keep the door shut but not pressed as far down as it will go which is what I normally do. I thought that as it is attached to the eglu run the ex batts would still be quite secure.
