Leicester_H
In control panel I have GMT set - but the times of my posts are 1hour later (ie I post at 3pm and it shows as 4pm). Why ?? H
Mum
I know! I know!! I know!!!! You need to check the Yes/No checkbox where it says: Summer Time/DST is in effect: so you check the "No" box It's directly under the dropdown box for Greenwich Mean Time HTH
Ain't Nobody Here
Have you got "BST" set to no?
Leicester_H
Have you got "BST" set to no? I hadn't (but have now). Being dim - but why should that make a difference in February (BST hasn't started yet) ?? H
cloud
With other board the BST check box means 'apply BST automatically' on this board I think it just a manual control for us to adjust the time by an hour when needed. Fooled me too as computers normally do this sort of thing for you.

cloud
With other board the BST check box means 'apply BST automatically' on this board I think it just a manual control for us to adjust the time by an hour when needed. Fooled me too as computers normally do this sort of thing for you. Quite - so its no different to BST+1 then ? So why have it ?? I did a bit of research. I think it's because the board is using an old-ish version of the phpBB software that drives this board. A update sometime in 2010 added the ability to automatically set BST/DST. There is generally some reluctance by IT people not to update (don't fix what ain't broke), and I can see their point. There is a strong chance that an update will break something causing the board will go down for a few days while they stress out trying to fix it For those curios see http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=69&t=1020905 (note - my research was very limited and I didn't read all of the above so I might be wrong) Edited February 12, 2012 by Guest
Lavenders_Blue
When the clocks go forward to BST you will need to tick the box again to set your time forward 1 hour - the forum doesn't do it automatically for you. I expect half of us on here are operating either on GMT or BST at the wrong time of year as it's so easy to forget to tick and untick the box when the clocks change. Leicester_H
So it is redundant, really (as selecting GMT+1hr does the same thing). When I did my masters in IT, we were taught to avoid redundacy. Oh well, thanks for explanation. H
