chickens on the move

Recommended Posts

:D We are in the final stages of moving to our new home. Today we moved our three girls Madge, Matilda and Gladys across to the new place. I shut them in the Eglu last night then this morning we took them in our van to their new home. When we got there I transferred them into the dogs crate while we fixed the run back onto the eglu (in pouring rain) then the sun came out just in time for them to go back into the run. They were really enjoying themselves - lots of contented clucking. Now its just the furniture left to go - the bees went over last week!

How exciting....and exhausting at the same time. Moving house is such an emotional buisness. All the new and exciting promises of a new life :D All the cleaning and box unpacking for your and the old owners life

On the other hand...there will be boxes you don't unpack...put them in the loft or garage...then after a year get a kind friend to sift through...in case there is something valuable you forgot and then take directly to charity....DO NOT look yourself or you will rescue stuff :lol::lol:

Thanks everyone. We have moved 30 miles. Still in Lincolnshire. We went home to the old house to sleep. We havent completed on our sale yet. We go to the new house every day though - taking yet more stuff. The girls were fine this morning - as soon as I got there I went to see them - they are loving it. Havent got their WIR put back up yet so they are in the Eglu run at the moment. Might leave it up like that for a bit cos it's much more pleasing to the eye - and foxproof. Their WIR is foxproof too but doesnt look quite as pretty. Checked our bees too - we moved them last week. It was sunny - and they were flying - exploring all the new bushes and trees. Oh and Ziggy the Border Terrier is in 7th heaven - so many new smells and lots of exploring to be done!

Whoopee - we finally completed our our sale of the cottage today. We actually moved into our new place last week. Dog, chickens, bees and us all now happy and settled. Took delivery of a shiny red dualit toaster and kettle and a red Kitchenaid mixer as a treat and just ordered my new EVERHOT cooker today. Life is good. Anyone out there already got an Everhot? if so any tips will be greatly appreciated.
