hillfamily
As you know I bought 2 bantams from Jimmy's at Easter We were told they were about 8 - 10 weeks old so they must be about 19 -21 weeks old now. Do Banties start laying later than big girls Do they lay as regularly as big girls I keep looking in the nest box and I have had a chat with them to ask if they could possibly lay me a little egg and explained that just because their big chookie friend Annie dosen't lay eggs it doesn't mean they can't lay eggs Edited June 29, 2007 by Guest
geb0205
Have to say, my banties started laying really late... one at about 6 month, and one at about 10 months...

Jools
It depends more on the breed really. You'll know when they're getting ready because they'll redden up and start chucking the bedding everywhere. Most of mine have started at between 5 and 6 months, but it depends on the time of year - so you should be in for some eggs soon!
hillfamily
Woo Hoo    There was a little bantie egg in the eglu yesterday evening. I'm not sure who laid it but I think it may have been Millie. She was squawking yesterday afternoon but as I was running late for parent's evening so I only glanced out to make sure she was OK. It weighs 26g................tiny compared to my big girls eggs
