monty
Hi All Our ducks are 10 weeks old (3 of them) we think they are a fasntastic pet, alot of looking after but well worht it as when you are with them the whole world passes by. We were thinking of letting the female sit on the eggs when the time is right. Would you recommed this or will the eggs have to be put in an incubator? Louise
I think Lesley did this and let Mindy keep the eggs but I could be wrong Drop her a PM and ask
The Dogmother
She did, and they hatched. But the dad has to be kept away in a separate pen otherwise he'll kill the ducklings. Lesley will be able to give you the details, but bear in mind that some ducks can be lousy mums; they've been known to abandon their eggs or babies
bronze
I had heard that the majority of ducks were lousy parents and that most people incubate them
Lesley
We were told that but we let Mindy sit on her eggs when she went broody last year - she hatched all four eggs and was an excellent Mum. We did separate the drake. She's broody again now and sitting on more eggs
