beach chick
I used to think the saying meant cross. given the torrential weather and howling winds we are having, my chickens are quite clearly insane. are they cuddled up in their nice eglu, or even sheltering under the shower curtain? no they are not. they are standing around in the wet, looking at the sky from time to time and jumping occasionally when the wind gets up their b*ms! Gentle1973
My three don't seem at all bothered by the rain, and are happily eating the worms off the lawn!

theherd123
All my girls hid under the tree with the OH while i cleaned out their eglus tonight - they were unwilling to brave the rain in the dash back to the hen hotel so I had to pick them up and carry them back! Popcorn
they've got you sussed Emma! Well, I had to feel sorry for my two. I had to put them back into the run today as we live on a hill and it was so windy and rainy I though they were going to blow away. In actual fact, they would have had more shelter outside of the run, as they've only got the small summer shade at the mo. They sat on their little log looking all forlorn this afternoon while they got rained on.....Took them some warm porridge earlier on to warm them up. Hen Watch
Mine just stay out in it too....silly soggy things. Their new thing to do today (much to hubbies great annoyance) is to scratch a huge hole in the waterlogged lawn looking for worms. Obviously the flower beds are not good enough. Our garden is on clay, so they've made a little swimming pool. Not done that before and hope they don't get a liking for this new past-time. Kathy C
Ours love to scamper about in the rain. They tend to run across the lawn every so often then and dig under different bushes. They look so funny with their wet feathers (a bit like Johnny Rotten I think with the spikey hair/feathers). They seem to be happy and crowing with delight. Soon as they are back in the run (under the "Winter" cover at the moment) they get down to preening out the punk look and look glam again in minutes. Don't mean to worry you but mine did this all winter, to the extent that we built them a 12 by 12 foot run to spend the winter in.
