Single hen

Thought Hen Pen was in the nest for a very long time. When I looked in she was too scared to move and must have thought she had laid a very strange egg!!

Great pic Katy. My chooks have been running around the garden this week in a feeding frenzy with baby frogs hanging out of their mouths. Never find any frog bodies though so I assume they are their latest delicacy......I'm sure it all makes the eggs tastier...!

Your wonderful picture reminded me of a recent trip to Cornwall when we took a trip out to the seal sanctuary.

 

They have two beautiful Asian otters one of which has a habit of collecting toads and taking them back to her sleeping quarters... not to eat, but to keep as a friend... the keepers release the toad in the morning (no harm done) - and maybe just maybe Hen Pen thought she'd found a new sleeping buddy??
