Recommended Posts

Does anyone have fitted wardrobes in their bedrooms?

we are in the process of decorating (only lived here 13 years - its about time :lol: ) and I really fancy a fitted wardrobe.

Ive seen this company betta-living does anyone know if they are any good?

and what do I want? I mean, what "interior" bits are useful? and what is a total waste of money? :D

Thank you

Afraid I don't know that company, but fitted wardrobes in principle are a great use of space. I thoroughly recommend Ikea wardrobes - I had them put together and fitted by a handyman, as my bedroom had an odd angle, and he was able to fill in the gaps and make it fit. They are good quality, and I love all the bits-and-pieces you can get to fit in them.

It depends a lot on your lifestyle and clothes - it's worth having a good long think about what you store in your wardrobes, what you might store if you had different options, and whether it all needs to be in there, or whether you could store some of it elsewhere.

I don't have lots of shoes or handbags, but I had one wardrobe fitted with two rails one above the other, as I wear a lot of separates. I had the rail in the other wardrobe put up high so that I could fit a couple of pull-out drawers under the clothes when they were hanging, and these hold jeans, shoes (and my beekeeping suit!). I don't really wear a lot of evening dress, but if I did I expect I'd have wanted a high rail so they could hang without trailing on the floor.

The best thing I've got, which I have only seen at Ikea, is a pull-out tray which has hooks on its underneath; my toiletries are on top, and underneath I hang all my necklaces, it is wonderful not to have to untangle them every time I want one. I don't know if they still do that product, but it's worth looking at their website just for ideas.

Have fun planning! :D

Cathy, my first thought looking at their website was that they would be hard sell with over inflated prices at first that they could "magically" reduce if you agreed to buying from then there and then. A bit like some DG salesmen and firms!

There's one in Balckpool but I've never heard of them and have lived on the Fylde for a long time............... Speaks volumes for me.

Just had fitted wardrobes put into my girls room by Sharps. Unbelievably good quality, service and a comprehensive 10 year guarantee too. Fully made to measure which was perfect as our house has some oddness going on with the wall and ceilings! Because it's floor to ceiling the space you get from a small footprint is AMAZING, they're not the cheapest but from start to finish the whole process was flawless, including a very pleasant designer who applied NO pressure at all, to the point that he told us he would go and sit in his car for a bit so that we could talk about it freely, without feeling pressured by his presence!

Wholeheartedly recommend them, in fact we've started saving for our room next year (if you can wait, the would recommend waiting for the January sales...we ordered Jan 31st, asked for delivery end March so bulk of money paid the on deliver, and asked for fitting 3 days after delivery...all of which they were happy to accommodate).

Hope that helps :D

I've gone for Ikea. We've just put in 2m ikea wardrobe in the spare room and 2.5m in each of the three bedrooms. They are easy to put together and very flexible. The fittings aren't that expensive so I'm prepared to change some of the interiors as my boys get older. The first couple I fitted out in 2-3 goes as I worked out what we needed.

The hard bit was buying them as my OH doesn't 'do' Ikea  and trying to order for delivery was a fiasco. Fortunately our car will take a full length carcase box. The worst visit was the time I ended up with 2 trolleys, has to load up the car with one go back for the second which had to be collected from a different desk so wasn't ready and realised what was already in the car needed to be on top so I had to unload and reload

I'm really pleased with how they look and how practical they are. And I've probably done 4 rooms for the cost of 1 from the specialists.

We did the Ikea thing too - my husband built them all in & made doors for them rather than using the Ikea ones,as our house is old & very wonky!

They are great & there are loads of options you can choose...................plus they deliver now (Had an office chair delivered last week for only £6!)
