Do Chickens get sciatica?

Recommended Posts

I woke up this morning to find one of my bantam marans unable to come out of the eglu with her mates. She looked really frustrated and when I went to investigate, her left leg was bent back and her foot was curled up. I thought she had either broken her leg or dislocated it. As I had to dash off to work, I put her in the cat carrier with shredded paper and food and water. I kept her in a quiet room believing I'd have to take her to the vet when I got home. When I got back, she was on her feet and chuntering away noisily - and she'd laid an egg! I opened the carrier and she shot out as if nothing happened ?! Has anyone else had this experience and can hens get sciatica?
