Can anyone recommend any cruelty-free chicken feed brands? I've done a few searches and haven't been able to find anything

Please excuse my dimness but are not all poultry feeds cruelty free - they are on the whole various grains in differing proportions. I don't think there is any animal product involved in the preparation of poultry feed, but you've made me think & I'll go check mine (Garvo & Wiggly Wigglers & Scottish poultry mix (mixed corn)) Alli x

to be honest, i have no idea about poultry feed - hence the question

 

i do know that many common pet food brands test on animals (see the Peta website), so i assumed poultry feed might too?

I use Allen and Page small holder range...the pellet size is small so my littles and bigs can feed together

im pretty sure there isn't any animal food manufacturer that won't test their product on animals, because at the end of the day thats its intended audience. For example, if a company developed a new healthy puppy food, it would have to test it on puppies before releasing it to the general population (e.g to make sure dogs like the taste of it, that there aren't any bad reactions etc). If the manufacturer didn't, and released it to the petshop without any trials, imagine the court cases and bad publicity if lots of puppies started losing there fur or getting stomach problems after eating it. I personally would treat any claims that PETA makes with a deal of caution...

I use Organic layers pellets, but as everyone else says I imagine all are cruelty free! In fact quite a few are approved by the vegetarian society (inc the organic one).

That is exactly what I thought! Surely food for animals must be trailed on animals for the reasons stated by leedg.
