chestnutmare
After (a lot) of debating with myself I have just gone and treated myself to a Brinsea Mini Eco starter pack. It's something I've wanted to do since last year. Now we're more settled with the house and I've been working my butt off, I feel ever-so-slightly less guilty about my expenditure. Exciting! chestnutmare
Thanks. I am glad now that I either had no replies or very slow replies from suppliers because I wouldn't be hatching now. LL, it may be those lovely silkies being hatched!

Kirstie
Fantastic news! Well done I got the brinsea mini advanced (which I think is basically the same as the Eco except it turns them for me - what that really means is every hour it made a loud noise as it turned and drove my hubby insane ) I got it and used it last year - so have only used it once but I put 7eggs in and I had 6 eggs hatch (one wasn't fertile) which I thought was brilliant for my first time. My only problem was at hatching the humidity wasn't high enough (I think) and the first chick to pip couldn't get out - I had to do the dreaded help it out (which thankfully went ok) I did put a warm damp flannel in to get humidity up to help with the other eggs. I did fill both sides of the water bit at day 18 or whenever they said it needed to be done. So next time I will be really watching for this again - I'm not saying you will get that problem and it was probably my inexperience but just watch out. But I still love it - it was perfect for the number of eggs I wanted to hatch. Good luck x let us know how it goes
chestnutmare
Thanks Kirstie. I'll bear that in mind. I'm looking at the instructons online now and alread writing out a plan, days to do this and that etc.

chestnutmare
Do you get to choose the song played? I was thinking, 'here we go loopy loo' would be nice.
Kirstie
Ha ha Id love that! The brinsea makes a weird loud grrrllll noise with a ringing bell type noise like a timer going off, would much rather have the ice cream van noise - although it would make me think ice cream every time and then I'd need some! So by 21 days I'll be the size of a house I'd only be able to hatch every 5 years to give me time to loose weight
