hi all,

I bought a broody Lavender Peking with 6 eggs under her. She is happily sitting on her eggs but 2 days ago she came off her eggs for about 2 hour but ever since she has been sat on them. Do you think the eggs may have suffed from this? is she brooding on eggs that will never hatch?

Unless you bought fertilised eggs, or have a cockerel they won't hatch even if she sits on them

If it was early on in the brooding time span then it won't have done much harm. I'd be tempted to leave them fro the whole 21 days and see what happens.

 

I am assuming that you have fertile eggs there and that you've been candling them to monitor progress.

thank you. her eggs were fertile as she was in a pen with 2 cocks and the eggs were layed by her and 4 others that where in the pen too. We are on day 6 of the 21 days so still early days so cross fingers that all as ok.

You do need to make sure she gets off the eggs for a very short while every day to eat, drink and dustbathe. Maybe she was taking a break if she hasn't had one so far.
