kaza46
My Broody is due her chicks next week and i would like to give them a safe enclosure to run around in. I have an eletric fence and was thinking of getting more to allow them to roam safely but i didn't know if they would be too young and hurt themselves, or they would get out if electic was turned off for short periods. The holes in the netting on the one we have is large enough for them to get through when little and didn't know if you could get special netting/ fencing. Any other ideas on giving them some freedom would be great as i can't let them out with the foxes around.
Lewis
Tbh I think they'd just walk straight through it for the first few weeks... Maybe get them a small secure run made of weldmesh for the first 3 or 4 weeks as they won't need too much run space, and then think about getting a bigger run to let them into with the broody
Melbourne12
Best bet is the sort of run sold for rabbits to use.
Egluntyne
I should think that an electric fence would vaporise the chicks.
kaza46
I have had a thought of just getting chicken wire and then make a small run inside the fence. I am guessing the other hen will be ok with them being in there as well (seperated though) and not hassle them too much. Any thoughts on that that idea would be grateful, thank you
kaza46
I have now made an enclosure inside of the electric fence, so they can run around with Scarlet and learn all that is needed to become a big chook. Now lets just hope at least one of them hatch
