Right, so I am looking into buying two omlet chickens one of each type and a chosen eglu in green ( as quite frankly I just can't get enough of green ). My mind was deciding on an eglu go as I thought it looked modern and chic! But now I am slowing siding with the classic as I was soo disappointed when I found out the go only has colour on one side of the door and the other side is grey which is completely pointless :shameonu: !! I like the idea of an egg port and I like the grub and glug feeders!! Still debating ... But I can't wait for everyone else's comparisons of both eglus if you have both or just a personal experience of either one of them. Tell me which is best for a beginner ( not a novice as I do know my stuff so I am a beginner instead ) like me with a medium sized garden and suited for two hens to live a happy life in!! Thanks Matthew :P

Honest answer from me, don't waste time and money.

Just go straight for the cube

It gets very addictive, I started off with !goyellow! And upgraded within months!

Go now sits empty waiting for intros and illness for which a cat carrier would do just as well.

However, if you are sure of your ability to contain yoursel I would go for the classic.

I've had a (pink eglu) first which I loved but then bought a !gogreen! for more chickens. I figured I may as well get a (cube green) for less cleaning out so sold the !gogreen! intended on selling the (pink eglu) too but somehow never got round to it  I am now hatching some more chickens to fill the (pink eglu)

I preferred the eglu to the go personally. It looks smarter and more expensive, which it is of course  I thought the go was a bit flimsy. But the colour went all the way round, only the back was grey

I've had both.

Go for the Go IMO it is far superior.

The classic is a much earlier design and Omlet have learnt a lot since then.

The Go is much easier to clean, the back comes off completely to get at the roosting bars / nest area.

It also makes handling the chickens within the coop much easier.

The Go run also has the advantage of the option of an additional door panel which can be placed adjacent to the coop. (When I bought my Go + 2M run earlier this year Omlet supplied me with the additional door FOC).

This makes access to the front of the coop with the run attached an easy matter. Again cleaning / maintenance is easier.

Colour is always a subjective matter but when the coop is open, the door is green from the outside - fair enough. When the girls are tucked away for the night and the door is closed the grey colour blends in well with the rest of the front of the coop to give a harmonised appearance.

Good luck with whatever you choose. :)

I prefer the Classic to the Go.

I have 2 (purple eglu) , 1 (blue eglu) (bought last weekend second hand and still needs putting together) and a (cube purple) . Unlike most I am not keen on the (cube purple) its only good point is you can fit lots of chooks in. I don't have a Go but have looked at them and decided they were not for me.

I would have a Classic and if later you want more chooks you can get a cube and sell the classic for a good price or keep it as I did for introductions.
