The Pearsons
My husband and I were moving the cube and run today (and cleaning it out). The girls were out - suposed to be free ranging but spent most of the time sitting on my wellies - one on each foot. I picked Chips up and moved her and them picked Toast up but I hadn't put her down before Chips was back on my foot....... Hubbie wasn't any use at all as he was doubled up with laughter! Anyway I ended up shutting them in the run extension and then letting them out again when we were done. They walked me back and forwards between the store where I keep my hen stuff until I pointed out a slug nest when they had fun in getting rid of the pests. (Sorry if you are vegetarian). I thought slugs would have been awful but my girls gobbled them down with relish. Hubbie took some picture of me moving chicken around but I think the memory card was full and the camera has saved onto it's internal memory. I've lost the cable which connects camera direct to PC so the download will have to wait. Today was a two egg day as well - we had them fried with bacon and mushrooms for lunch. Yummmmmm Off to do some more chicken watching Helen in Hume Edited July 1, 2007 by Guest
Couperwife
I spent most of Friday night telling our chooks that the house was for people and the back garden and cube was for chickens, they must have tried about 6 times to get in , I finally gave up and shut the door, then they spent about an hour pecking the doorframe crazy girls. had a thunderstorm today, (the weather - not me personally ) they didnt like that much and kept chuntering at me
Chickaboo
On the big clean out day, mine spend the whole time by my side checking out what I'm doing, and standing in the dismantled eglu, I think they get a bit perturbed about their home being disturbed. Phoebe loves to run under the hose on sunny days (they did exist!) to cool off!
Helly Welly
Mine like to wait until its clean then go traipsing over it with dirty feet. Polly and Korma in particular follow me and climb on me when i'm cleaning the eglus, whereas if i go anyway near the chicken shed, the Gingers are there like a shot. I do love seeing them run/fly up the garden though, guaranteed to make me laugh
