Cuckoo rhyme?

Recommended Posts

Listening the other day to the first cuckoo I have heard in years, I was trying to recall a childhood rhyme about its habits. the only one i can find on t'interweb is the following, but I don't remember it going like that :think: Anyone else got another verse?

Cuckoo, cuckoo, what do you do?

In April I open my bill;

In May I sing all day;

In June I change my tune;

In July away I fly;

In August away I must.

Aren't there lyrics in a Simon & Garfunkel song like that??

Let me go and Google...

Yes, here they are

April come she will

When streams are ripe and swelled with rain;

May, she will stay,

Resting in my arms again

June, she´ll change her tune,

In restless walks she´ll prowl the night;

July, she will fly

And give no warning to her flight.

August, die she must,

The autumn winds blow chilly and cold;

September I´ll remember.

A love once new has now grown old.

Not about a cuckoo, but obviously using some of the lines from the poem you remember.
