arowland17
Hi, I don't know if anyone can help me, but I have just won an eglu and run on ebay (am extremely excited, been looking out for one for ages and had even started saving to buy one new!!) and it's quite a drive away for me to collect. My question is, does anyone know if it will all fit in the back of a Renault Clio?? we can put the back seat down although it wont fold flat, but I am not sure whether it will be enough room, we don't want to drive an hour and a half and not be able to fit it in!! Well, if anyone has any ideas that'd be great!
lisa33
I got my eglu in the back of my citroen saxo. I don't think there is much difference in size. I also managed to squeeze in a run & extension (totally dismantled) I'm sure it will be fine. Can you attach a roof rack just in case? chelsea
just asked hubby and he's doing this........ He thinks it may just be possible - at a squeeze! He said if it was totally dismantled you probably wont have a problem..or you could put the eglu on the front passenger seat and the run in the boot. We have a landrover and we take our chickens/run/eglu over 2 my sisters when we holiday and we fit it in there ok but our eglu house is still assembled. Congrats on the ebay win !! chelsea
Can you attach a roof rack just in case? my hubby suggested that actually !
arowland17
thanks for such quick replies - I really can't wait to pick it up, although probably there will be 2 of us in the car so it'll have to go on my lap if in the passenger seat!! I think we may risk it in the clio and take along our tools to dismantle it all - is it hard to take apart and put back together?
lisa33
You will probably get on ok just taking the lid off. I don't think you'll have a problem. What colour is it? I drove 3 hours to get mine. I was determined to have a Oh and welcome to the forum.
chelsea
no its not hard. You need a phillips screwdriver ( I would take a few to make sure you get the right size) to undo the nuts that connect the run. The rest unclips without a screwdriver. Take some blankets or something for it to rest on. I dont think you would be able to sit with it on your lap though - its quite heavy. It would have to be completely dismantled in hubby's opinion.
arowland17
It's purple, exactly what I wanted - there have only been green ones on ebay so far that are anywhere near me and was nearly going to bid on one but then this came up and it was perfect! We're off on holiday in a week, and are getting the chickens as soon as we're back and can locate some!!
lisa33
Cool. Purple is my next favourite. have a good holiday & have loads of fun with your chickens.
jellyb100
We put ours in a mondeo at a squeeze so I don't know how people have managed with smaller cars! The only thing I can think is if you push and tilt the passenger seat right forward. Obvioulsy you wouldn't be able to do this and have a passenger! Hen Watch
Found this dimension information (for a Mk II eglu) on the Omlet site. Hope this link works. http://www.omlet.co.uk/products_services/products_services.php?view=Chickens&about=the%20run&rolling_image_id=3 I'm sure you've seen the pictures on the Omlet site of the eglu apart. The 2 biggest bits are the base unit and the eglu lid. My standard eglu run came in 5 sections. A left and right panel are joined together at the top with clips to make the 1st section of run, then same again, then and end panel. So dismantled they should be easy stuff into the car. hasnett
we fitted ours in an old Ford Fiesta...it wasn't too much of a sqeeze.
Egluntyne
I got one comfortably in the back of a Corollo verso if that helps. I dropped all the back seats down and there was plenty of room. That is three Omleteers winning Eglus on ebay over the last few days!! Mine is YELLOW.
arowland17
Brilliant, well an old Ford Fiesta sounds more like the boot size of my car, it's an old clio so space is limited but I think we'll try and cram it in! I really can't wait to pick it up, don't know how I'm going to be able to wait another 2 weeks to actually get any chickens in it!
chickenlass
Luck you...you must so pleased...I've never managed to win anything on Ebay yet! Hope it fits in to the car OK...sounds as if it will from the other replies
Jules.
We got my eglu off Ebay, too. Hubby & DS1 very kindly did a big drive to Workington to collect it for me We have a Picasso & took the back seats out completely & it fitted in great (we didn't want to drive all that way & it not fit ), but I do think that if you dropped down the back seat of your car & dismantled everything to do with the run then you should just about be ok
