chuckmum6
Our first little Pekin hatched mid morning, when I checked a couple of hours later it was lying flat out and was cold. To be honest I thought it was already dead, but it's eyes weren't glazed and it hard just a slight flutter of movement so I put it under its mum, with little hope of success. 15 mins later it was warm and peeping, it now 2 hrs later seems fine. It was VERY lucky a couple of mins more and it would have been dead! I am popping out now to check that mum isn't letting it get cold again, she has five more eggs and a couple are just starting to hatch. Mum (Princess Layer) haf better sort herself out as she was a very persistent broody and this is her second hatch!
Shirl
That was close. It's a good job that the little chick has a good non-chicken mummy. Let's hope that chicken mummy gets a bit more dilligent.

Griffin
That happened to me once. A white Orp chick fell out the back of a Brahmas knickers and she didn't notice, she was comatose on the other eggs. Good job I checked on them when I did. I popped it under a heat lamp all night and he went back the next day when his mum was a bit more with it. chuckmum6
'Lucky' originally named - not, is up and peeping like a normal chick, poking its head out. There are two other black Pekins out all wobbly and damp still. One of the two lavender Pekins has hatched, very recently, it is motionless floppy and has its eyes closed - not sure if it is just exhausted from hatching or dead. I have made sure it is well under mum and left it alone. I'll have a look in an hour and see if it is ok or not - fingers crossed. I have had to clean out a big broody poo from next to the chicks. This has been a stressful hatch, still two more eggs to go, one pipping (mystery egg from our ex-cock and one of the girls) and the other lavender nothing happened there yet. Sadly it is dead ,the other lavender is now pipping fingers crossed it hatches ok and is a girl!
