Mel (& Paul)
A friend of mine used to drink a small glass of red wine whilst she was breastfeeding. The baby always slept through the night.........
The Dogmother
My mother did that - but I don't drink now!
The Dogmother
Kate, can we start a book on whether Gina's baby will have red hair?
Mrs Frugal
That's a good idea!! Shall we also do one on how big it's going to be?? My money's on a 10 pounder!! Go Gina Go !!
The Dogmother
They did that at work for me - they knew the due date and sex, but they had a bet on weight - all the money came to me on Mothercare vouchers - Brilliant!
The Dogmother
My money's on a 10 pounder!! Go Gina Go !! That'll make her eyes water -she won't be able to walk after!
buffie
Ah just like a double yolker (from the woman who's only had furry and feather babies), few sqawks and it's done!! SORRY GINA Bx
Mel (& Paul)
I'm with you there Buffie. A friend of mine, Sophie, is built like Clare T (oh, dont we hate you skinny small girls ) She married a chap who was about 6'6'' and really broad shouldered etc. Her baby was over 11pounds (coincidentally, why do we always ask about a baby's weight??!??! are we going to pop them in the oven?!?!?) The Dogmother
Skinny! I think the weight thing is just a way of getting an idea of what's going on -it's a sort of pride thing I think, sort of equates with healthy if your baby is a big un I suppose. Cate in NZ
Big babies can also be associated with ill health, especially diabetes (in Mum, not baby), so not always a good thing I can't say I'd fancy giving birth to a 10 or 11 pounder. Mine were 7lb 8oz, & 8lb 4oz, quite big enough for me thanks
becks
is it your first baby - exciting times ahead!
Popcorn
Yes, Becks - it's my first Aren't these lot great and offering comforting thoughts and reasurance ( ) I have to say Clare, I hope if it's a boy the redness is a nice colour and not bright orange. I'm not looking forward to years of bullying at school! (please take after the Daddy. He has lovely thick, brown wavy hair) And Kate - go and stand in the corner with your hands on your head. A 10 pounder indeed I made a Baby Guessometer for my friend last year. Went down a storm. We made a fortune for the baby.
The Dogmother
I love red hair Gina - I was hoping that Rosie would be a redhead - it's in the family - scottish side rather than Italian!
Popcorn
Rosie looks very pretty and mediteranean doesn't she, I much prefer the dark mysterious look than the freckle faced, red cheeked look! I guess you always want you haven't got
Sophieam101
Congrats Gina
The Dogmother
Rosie looks very pretty and mediteranean doesn't she, I much prefer the dark mysterious look than the freckle faced, red cheeked look! I guess you always want you haven't got Thank you on Rosie's behalf for the compliment. She was born dark, like me, but was white blonde at 2 years (her dad was blond and so is my sister). I have freckles - Scottish blood on my fathers side! In fact, where my mother's family come from near Florence, they have light colouring, sometimes strawberry blonde, like the Titian paintings! I bet you can't wait to see yours - it will never cease to amaze you how the different genes come out in them as they grown and change. Popcorn
Yes, you're right, I can't wait to meet mine Only another five and half month to go! We spent a bit of our honeymoon in Florence and loved it. We also spent a bit of time in Pisa and some time in Siena, before we relaxed in a villa in the hills! Popcorn
Is it normal to not be showing at 14 1/2 weeks? I feel like I have been pregnant for ever and have nothing to show for it. I think I'm going through a paranoid stage because I can't feel or see anything I feel that something has happened......and my baby has stopped growing. Someone must be able to give me some rational advice - please
Nicola H
With Emily I didn't get a big bump infact people didn't even know I was pregnant.............Now when I was pregnant with Tom My bump looked like an over sized beach ball. Every pregnancy is differnt Gina just be grateful that you bump will probably be petite and you will be able to get through shop doorways. I now it is an anxious time if you are in any doubt couldn't you get the midwive to just have a listen and put your mind at rest........ Mrs Frugal
I bet you're going to get a neat little designer bump, Gina. Mine was like a beached whale wallowing around in my belly! I looked pregnant from a very early stage and didn't help by sticking my belly out proudly all the time either!! Second time I was pretty ill and didn't get as big as quickly. I put on 4 stone with Tom and only 2 with Ollie. Won't tell you how much I've put on with no bump at all !
Lesley
Quite agree Kate - I look far more pregnant now than I ever did whilst pregnant I had a very small bump both times - only put on a stone(but baby was nearly 5 weeks early) first time and 20 lbs the second. Girl followed by boy. Actually, I got married at 5 months and didn't show at all
Popcorn
that's just what I needed, some rational, postive advice. I must be having a Lesley baby and will only put on a stone - that has to be the answer. (I won't mention that I've put on a stone already)

The Dogmother
Sounds like you'll be small and neat Gina! I didn't show until about that stage you are now - the waist goes first, then it's all downhill after that. Missed you on Saturday - hope to see you soon CX
