williamspencer98
Another death this morning. The most gorgeous Buff Cuckoo Pekin Bantam, Poppet. The only symptoms she had was standing still closing her eyes, and kind of turning her neck round. But thats what chickens do to sleep isn't it? That's what I thought anyway but she kept on doing it so I was a bit concerned. It was about 6:30pm at this time so I couldn't take her to the vet right now so I'd make her an appointment this morning. But she didn't make it 3 deaths within the space of 2 weeks, we had our previous batch of chickens at our old house for about 4 years before having to rehome them! Was she about to get Mycoplasma like the other hens I have? She is kept in the Silkie pen though and is seperate from all of the hens that have Mycoplasma. williamspencer98
How can you tell if they have mycoplasma? Hi, because I took two of my hens to the vet, and said they both have Mycoplasma (eyes shut, gunky, scabby, and sneezing/coughing). He said it will spread so I assume Poppet got Mycoplasma but she's in a different house than the others, but from the same farm. Do you think it is the farm where the disease is????? mollyripkim
So sorry to hear about your girls. I think they can be carriers and then the stress of moving, or other things later on, can bring it out. Hopefully someone with more experience will be along to help.
