Starting my own website

Recommended Posts

I want to set up my own website.I have no idea how to go about this and cannot afford to pay anyone to do it for me.

Can anyone point me in the right direction :) . I want my own web name, not one added onto another site as I have seen happen if you understand what I mean. All I need is the standard home page, about me, contact etc.

Many thanks

You can register your website with Freeparking for about £10 and you get a free 4 page website. I have only registered urls with them so don't know how easy it is to use the 4 page website set up.If you choose to register your website name with them you can then point it at your website very easily if you set one up elsewhere.

I use www.create.net for my own and our work site as it is very flexible and easy to use. Mine is £2.99 per month which is plenty and our work one is £4.99. Very user friendly with lots of templates etc. You can register your domain through them as well (normally £10 for 2 years i think) and they have a good support system and forum as well. I tried some of the free sites but never felt they looked professional enough and didn't allow very much flexibility or creativity which is why i like create. You can also upgrade to being able to have a shop and you can integrate with an ebay shop as well i believe. I wouldn't use anything else now! :D
