Where to buy material?

Recommended Posts

I am using my birthday present crochet hooks to make a case for the magic box in my new car so that when I take it off the dashboard it doesn't get damaged.

I would like to line it with some material but have no idea where to buy some on line or what material to look for.

As the Omleteer crafty people are so clever I am sure you will have some great suggestions.

I buy on eBay and Amazon, fat quarters are a good size for a small project like that. I also buy cheap bedding and cut it up, and I buy cushion covers, tablecloths etc from charity shops for 'upcycling'. (That word always makes me smile, apparently I've been upcycling for years without realising it!) John Lewis is always worth a visit if you have one near you, they usually have a remnant box where you can pick up small pieces.

Wow thank you, all those ideas will keep me busy.

What's a magic box for your car?

It is a box that does bluetooth for the phone, info on the car such as miles per gallon, temperature of car and outside, sat nav and music and other things that I have not worked out yet. It does have a technical name but I call it the magic box. It fits on the dashboard but some one said to put it out of sight when you park in some areas, so I thought I would make a little bag/purse to keep it in.

Good excuse to use my birthday pressie and have a go at crocheting again after years.

Fancy Moon have some lovely retro fabrics.

We have a haberdashers in Stratford and they have bins with fabric samples from the sample books in them. Lauren has taken up sewing so we bought lots of different fabrics priced from 30p each to £1 each, lovely Designer Guild samples, it might be worth looking out for some.
