dixie chick
I have a serious red mite infestation of the stable where I have been keeping my girls for 3 years. Sadly, it actually claimed the life of my lovely Speckled Sussex last week... I have just spent the entire weekend blowtorching, creocoting and generally trying to exterminate the hideous things. My vet says the only way to get rid of the mites totally is to remove the chickens from the stable for at least 9 months! It seems I have no option than to try a plastic house - at least for the summer months when the mite are at their worst. SO....I have 9 hens - the biggest being the Buff Orpington - but none are bantams. Would the Cube be my best solution - or can anyone suggest another type of house. I really need it this week! sparkysmum
Hi, a really quick reply. Yes a cube is plenty big for 10 hens. We have a real mixed bunch of 8 and there is loads of room left. So long as they have sufficient free range time and space they will be real happy
Purplemaniacs
I have had six and there was loads more room. Chrissie
quickcluck
15 of my 17 sometimes squeeze themselves in, despite having 2 more houses to choose from
chick wiggle
Yep! I have had 15 in there (their choice, plenty of other accomodation available) and even then they dont look squashed, its not the house its the size of the run that matters so as long as they have plenty of room outside the house they will be fine.
