Recommended Posts

Hi

We have just fitted 3 bumper bits to 3 amber links and wondered if anyone can check firstly there fitted correctly and that the size of the bumper bit is right and that they will be able to eat with them.

Its my final attempt to trying to intergrate my two columbines, id hope to be able to remove them maybe in afew weeks.

they just looked abit long, dont think they will be able to eat their grapes anymore, they get fed pellet anyway not sure what treats they will be able to eat the plastic bit in the beak looks wide as well.

just wanted some reasurance if they were the right size.

they seem to be settling abit now they did go abit manic trying to get them off at first

Hi Becca, they'll be able to eat grapes if you split them in half!! The bumpa bits look a wee bit long, however I dont think that will be an issue, do get some spares as they wear off in about three months time... I've had a bumpa bit on one of my girls since Feb and she's just worn it off for the second time, I was hoping she'd not be stripping feathers off the other girls but I noticed today she's started again after three weeks of freedom... back with the Bumpa bit tomorrow so the other girls dont have to suffer.

Persevere it will be worth it so not to have injuries..

I am no expert, but compared to my girles they look rather long and a little bit forward in their noses.

If they were farther back they wouldnt be so long ( think that makes sense ) Mind you we had to have quite a few attemps to get them on with me ending up in tears, they were fine though.

H thanks for your replys, it was really hard to decide where they went, they were off a selling site, as needed them quiet quickly so think they are a slightly different design where they are longer, they have had them on since and they are still wearing them and seem happy they are eating and drinking, i think they have worked out if they tilt their heads they can eat half a grape the corn on the cob in the fridge might need to be frozen for now. lol

there was one which with a bumper bit was still puffing its neck up and jumping on the backs of the other 2 new ones seemed to be more vicious then when they didnt have them fitted , but we have singled that out out and seperated it from the two new ones and other 2 amberlinks they slept in the same eglu for the first time lastnight and they dont seem to be bothering them much so i was thinking of waiting for them to bond more before throwing the bully back in.

gosh i was hoping this might stop them from feather pulling once they get used to them, seems they might be wearing them abit more if they do it once their removed lol must have rose tinted glasses lol if only

thanks everyone i feel alot better now
