Chicken Momma
Congratulations! Isn't it great!!! I am a total newbie hen-keeper and got my two girls 3 weeks ago from a local farmer. They arrived rather unceremoniously in a sack, having been 'kidnapped' at night so I expected a certain settling in period. Also I had no idea how old they are or whether they have layed (?laid) before. They are pretty much feral. Absolutely delighted when I got my first egg - a simply perfect 55g egg on Sunday (23/9) and another from the same hen (Margo) the very next day. I haven't been out today to check as the weather is so horrendous here (high winds and driving rain) - not sure if that will put Margo off lay today. Anyway - congratulations again on your first egg. Eat and enjoy!
