OMG, I have never seen so many going overhead. DH reckoned there must have been thousands and it went on for nearly ten minutes. It looked like the huge bombing raids footage you see from WW2 when there is just a sky full of planes..........

Come to think of it, I've seen lots more this time around...and it does make me when the chooks and the ducks all stop and stare skywards

That sounds amazing! I once faltered at my sons parents evening when I got distracted by some migrating birds & stared at them all flying past the window. No matter, the teacher was an absolute moo

If my camera had been charged or my phone one better I'd have taken some pictures. Really was amazing to see as it was just group after group. Huge groups, smaller groups and then groups of three flying fast to catch up.

I see them every spring going over towards the east coast. They swap leaders all the time so the birds rest, and they call to stragglers , some even falling back to stay with them forming another group so none go astray , keeping together.

It is always early morning around six never any later in the day . I have never seen them going the other way though .

OK, been told theres around 20,000 in the area - pink footed geese, grey geese and some Canadian. They're busy flying from one area to another as they're being shot in the early morning and then again at night. We did have freshly shot pink footed goose last week
