Couperman
I saw some starter kits and I thought I might give them a whirl. And no I didn't mean the 'magic' variety although you can get starter kits for them too Are mushrooms easy to grow? We do now have a plentiful supply of rotting hemcore stuff with added goodness! I reckon this would be ideal growing media for them. Any thoughts? Kev.
Jules.
No idea, sorry, but I have seen the polystyrene box starter kits in Wilkinsons for about £4.
xChicken04x
every year we buy mushroom starter kits, they are pretty easy, all you have to do is spray them twice a day with one of those misty things. the mushrooms are really nice but i would buy 2 kits because some work and some dont. ubereglu
I haven't tried growing them. You can get some cheaper starter kits in Woolworths for £2.99 I think.
craftyhunnypie
Our dad bought us a kit when we were little. We kept it in the shed. It was just a cardboard box filled with soil (obviously with spores in), that we had to spray with a mister thingy. Basically, we had to keep it moist. They were really easy to grow, we got loads and they were real whopper flat mushrooms. I remember turning them into huge garlic mushrooms! Yummy. Unfortunately a little mouse got into our shed and made it's home in our mushroom box of soil...so the kit had to go! Dad bought it via mail order, gosh must be over 20 years ago now!!!!!! Give them a go! Emma.x
snowcloud
I also tried a kit a few years ago and had limited success; you have to get the position right, and give them regular attention, and generally pamper them more than I thought I'd need to. Chickens are less trouble...
Chooks Aloud
I brought one in Woolies - waste of money nothing came up.
