Angie
I have been here in present home for 10 1/2 years and i haven't been able to find an nhs dentist anywhere. NHS Direct ,have been directing me to a dentist willing to see me in an emergency but not registering me. I have had to go into Leeds all the time , which is a treck out. But finally .....thanks to a fellow hydro therapy patient mentioning a couple of weeks ago that St Michaels were taking on new patients , i have been able to register. ( i have been on the NHS notification list for 10 yrs and they haven't told me about it , despite it being practically around the corner from me.) I have been at the surgery since 8.30 am waiting to be there for 10 am when they were open for new registrations and managed amongst the crowd to get in . I am so greatful to Ian for mentioning it . They are taking 25 pts every monday from now until Christmas week but not starting till 10 am. I have complained to NHS Direct for not telling me.........to be told it is up to me to contact them on a regular basis so they know to contact me.....yet they took all my details promising to inform me when the in takes are open in my post code areas.........What rot !!!! Still at long long last i have a dentist
Ain't Nobody Here
Can't believe it's so hard to find an NHS dentist . Glad you have one at last . We've all been with the same NHS practice for years - I'm not moving now . Edited November 13, 2012 by Guest
Olly
congratulations! I'm lucky enough to have an NHS one, and although I've moved and it's a trek to get to him, I am staying with him. They are few and far between around here.
superkitty
I haven't got a hope of getting one - I have to be sedated for anything more serious than a checkup. But the cost! Glad to hear you got one
dancing cloud
I had been private for over 15 years and got in with an NHS dentist when I moved here, only because my parents have been with the practice for over 30 years. He had a quick look at my teeth and decided they were basically sound, so accepted me even though officially his books were full. Sometimes having family that has been in this town forever is a really good thing!
