surf_space
I went to the Federation show today and it was really interesting! Lots of stalls around the outside and masses of poultry!! I was just wondering if anyone knew of any shows coming up after christmas? That are near stafford preferably not outside of staffordshire, Thanks

Redwing
I was showing at the Fed all weekend, it was a good show and I am glad you enjoyed it Sadly Staffordshire isnt really known for its range of shows but here are some that are near-ish The biggest of the nearby ones after Christmas is High Peak show which Egluntyne refers to above - officially its the Derbyshire Championship Show and its on the 2nd of Feb - here is their website http://www.highpeakpoultryclub.co.uk/index.php?section=25 There is the Lichfield Poultry Club show on 9th Feb at the community hall in Hammerwich There is the Malpas and Whitchurch show on 27th April at the Whixall Social Centre near Whitchurch Going in to May there are shows at Oswestry and Shrewsbury too Lancashire and Yorkshire are probably the best counties for access to the most shows unfortunately High Peak show is the biggest of the ones listed above but is nowhere near the size of the Fed, its one of my favourite shows though as its a good venue with good food and parking and the standard of birds is pretty high. The other two shows are smaller, village hall sort of size so nothing like the grand scale of the big shows, they are normally quiet and will have no trade stands or razzmataz, they are simply about the birds but they are usually pretty friendly and you can normally learn a lot by asking questions When you go to any show always keep out of the way of the judges while they are judging and save questions for afterwards (judging is normally done by mid day) If going to a small show observe from a distance early in the day - once the judging is over its a much more relaxed atmosphere! surf_space
Thanks redwing, I was looking at the wyandotte's wondering if any were yours, they were all sooo pretty! The show ground is only 10 mins away from me so it seemed silly not to go and have a look! I have showed my birds once before and did pretty well, although it was only a small show, so probably nowhere near in contention with the birds at the Fed! I just wanted to look around a few and see if I could pick up any pointers, so thanks for the list of ones close by!
