ohcarolina
Hi Everyone I got Hetty from a Fresh Start for Hens rescue last spring. She's done OK since then but has developed yellow runny poo in the last couple of days and is looking listless. I've spoken to my vet about Superlorin (or whatever its called) and its £88 a pop. I know there are a number of posts on the subject but I'd appreciate any comments you have for me. How soon after noticing illness does she need the implant - I'm worried I may already be too late. Whats all this about not eating an draining fluid? Many Thanks Caroline
Lewis
What are her other symptoms apart from yellow poops? Is it yolk in the poo and not foamy caecal poos? and have they been wormed with Flubenvet recently? I'd maybe try Bokashi Bran or natural yoghurt/a probiotic and see if that firms up her poos? I wouldn't have thought it was EYP if there is no swelling or fluid collecting around her abdomen... Personally I wouldn't give her a Suprelorin implant, but thats just me. Egghead68
Sorry to hear that. At least she went quickly and she had a lovely retirement.

Grandmashazzie
Poor Hetty My thoughts are from reading posts a lot of sickness is masked and when noticed they are near the end,so it's good just to keep them warm with plenty of TLC till they pass. ohcarolina
Thanks everyone. Her sister Hotty - Hortense is now on her own so I've got to try and integrate her with the lucky ones (Lucky1 and Lucky2) so named as I work with Fresh Start for Hens and we were able to rescue 50 from 1000 hens in November (something to do with Lion Mark rules). I took 20 myself and got 18 homed but ended up keeping my two (rude not to really)!
