mollyripkim
Just thought I would post in case anyone walks in the Ogden area of the forest. Just had a facebook update from my vets to say that unfortunately 10 dogs have died in the area - symptoms range from sore feet to unexplained and sudden kidney failure. Feel really sorry for the owners. Midforest Vets Totton Warning to all dog owners regarding mystery illness in dogs in New Forest area. There have been a number of cases of sudden and unexplained kidney failure in dogs in the New Forest area. The cause is as yet unknown but may be related to walking dogs in the forest. The symptoms are non specific with the patient quickly going off colour and one or more sores developing around the mouth area or on the legs. Owners should report any concerns to their veterinary surgeon straight away.
Charlottechicken
I'm sure this has happened somewhere before
karlotta
Yep, pretty scary stuff. This is almost exactly where I walk my dogs and my vets in fordingbridge have seen 6 cases... Will be avoiding the area for the moment.
bluekarin
My vets posted about this too, as did my local paper, Salisbury Journal. I am so pleased that Neela has had her season when she has as we would have taken her out for her first New Forest Walk a few weeks ago when we had the glorious weather. Not sure if where we would have gone would have been near Ogden. I need to check it. Those poor dogs and their owners - just breaks your heart
The Dogmother
Sounds like it could be spraying or poison
