Lewis
A small group of us at Uni are thinking about flying to Budapest for a few days and then going on to Slovakia to look at the Vet School over there - its less than a 3 hour drive away so would be ideal as we're thinking of applying to go there. We have thought about trains or coaches but looking at hiring a car for a mini road trip at the moment. Any tips on who or who not to go with - I thought one of the bigger companies (Europcar etc) would be a safer bet - or any other advice would be gratefully received! We're all around 21 and have been driving for about 3 years. I've seen most companies say 21 with at least a years driving but know we'll have to pay a Young Drivers supplement for being under 25. Thanks
patsylabrador
I can tell you some general stuff about driving abroad but nothing about car hire. It's worth getting a kit that has all the legal requirements, like every passenger should have a reflective jacket, one of them also has a book with driving advice for every country. Son got his from Amazon.
superkitty
Nothing about car hire (although one of the bigger ones or Fox Autorent is probably the best bet) but if you're in Budapest for any period of time, see if you can go to the the Gellert baths for an afternoon. They are awesome You wont need a car much while you're in budapest, its pretty much all walkable. We had a flat in Budapest for a year while DH was on a contract there, it's a really lovely city.
