Laura & CTB
Let the girls out today and they found a ping pong ball left out in the garden ( one of Frankie's she forgot to bring in) - they had great fun beaking it up and down the decking
mountainboarddude
what a good idea, i used to cut a hole into a ping pong ball, fill it with corn and give it to the girls. they used to roll it around and peck all of the corn until it was empty, they had great fun. starboyhull
Sounds like a good idea the ping pong filled with treats, might have to try that......Will give them something to do and save my fingers being bitten off trying to give treats (I spoke to soon the other week when I said our were gentle )........ starboyhull
Seems to be as ours are getting a bit older they are much more rough, but on the other hand they will happily let us pick the up for a cuddle, just seems to be when treats are being given....... beach chick
well, ours are totally non-cuddly, but also non-aggressive!
Olly
our girls have started to peck at my fingers when I am opening the cage Mine have always done this ... possibly because I can't let them out unless I'm there to supervise, so quite often when I go up to the run, it's to poke some nice greens or other treats through the bars. Twiddle the pin carefully towards you, so the loop is sticking out, and is out of beak-range. Pull it out, and then use the pin to push the door open. Then stand back while desperate chickens stampede towards you!
Couperman
Strangely our chooks don't peck me anymore! I put my fingers through the run mesh when we first got them and let them peck themselves daft they dont bother now. They must have realised Cathy has more appertising digits! Kev. mountainboarddude
when i first got my chooks they would peck my fingers because they thought they food, but know they don't bother, except for when i'm not looking and they sneak a quick peck.
