Eglu Go With 2m Run For Sale

Hiya

 

Husbie and I have decided to have another eglu, as we really hate this wooden thing we bought last year (it was cheap and cheerful and money was tight).

 

The plan is to have two eglus with Rosie and the Chooklets in one with the two new Lavendar Pekins and then maybe have some buff Orpington bantams in the other BUT I was wondering about ex-batts? Would they eventually get on with the little ones? Rosie is 5 now and I'm no sure how much longer she'll be with us for. We've seen the relationship that she has with the little ones and are trying to plan ahead so that they still have chook 'mums'. also my conscience is talking as I know that there are lots of ex-batts out there who need homes and feel that we could do our bit. The max that we would have is 3.

 

I trust you guys for your feedback in helping to make this decision.

Have been reading past posts on this subject and we still think it's for us. Have contacted the BHWT and also joined the Ex Battery Hens Forum.

My experience of ex-bats is that they are delightful but inclined to be the dominant ones, especially with bantams or smaller breeds. Careful introductions needed

The ex batts would live separately and need not meet the others if we let them out in the garden at separate times.
