Cotswoldwood company WIR - corrugated roof question

Recommended Posts

OH is constructing this as I write !

http://www.thecotswoldwoodcompany.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&path=83_129&product_id=227

My concerns are that

1. there is a gap between the top of the side panels and the roof - this can be fixed by getting a bit more mesh and fixing in place

2. but there will still be gaps where the corrugated roof attaches - where I think rats could easily enter.

How do people with corrugated roofs 'seal' them ?

Thanks, H

I had the same problem, blooming rats climbing up the side and getting in. Was horrified, as one night there were lots in there.

We, we'll OH actually stapled wire across thy whole of the roof, making sure that the whole WIR is completley encased in wire. Took a while but now no rats, from the inside run looks like a huge wire cage.

Hope I have explained this ok.

On my WIR roof there are proper wire panels making up the run and the roof and so the corrugated roof sheets are an 'extra' on top just to keep the rain out and dont play any part in securing the run if that makes sense
Yes, mine is made in the same way, there are panels with mesh that form a flat, internal, roof, then the sloping, rain-proof, roof was put on top. Here's a couple of pictures.

Hi

Yes - we have decided to make a 'false ceiling' with wire mesh on the existing cross beams.

Have ordered mesh !

OH has staple gun so should be able to make a neat, secure job of it.

Then will just need the girlies - can't wait! (but just a little nervous about getting our first ex-batts)
