counturchickens
I planted some asparagus before the last cold snap, and covered in fleece. No sign yet, but I don't know if it's still early due to the bad weather... So asparagus watch! Has anyone's come up?
Old Speckled Hen
I think most things are three to four weeks behind. I plated mine about three weeks ago and I don't expect anything will emerge till June
Lesley
I weeded mine (very carefully) on Sunday and found three little spears emerging!
chickencam
I think that my OH has rotovated over some of ours when he was preparing the ground for the potatoes. No sign of the rest though
Lesley
I have a good half dozen spears above ground now - quite difficult to tell as the variety I have come through purple at first. I also found a great dollop of cat poop this morning - on the netting!!
chickencam
I am looking forward to some asparagus because I think it makes a healthy egg dipping alternative to toast soldiers which might come in handy if I manage on the 5:2 diet
chickencam
Ours is just starting to emerge

kinsk
I planted some crowns last year and was convinved they'd died, but this weekend have a few little spears poking through, still can't touch it this year though
Charlottechicken
I visited Westbury Court Gardens, in Gloucestershire, last Friday, and they have a lovely big bed of asparagus, some spears were already a foot high.

Lesley
Well, had given up and ordered some year old plants, and 4 are coming up now! Sod's law, i should have been more patient! Patience is definitely a virtue where asparagus is concerned We had two pickings, each of two spears ....then on Monday we had 11 spears! There are a lot still to come as well. counturchickens
I'm going to make room for the new plants. I bought some at the weekend and had some chucked in spaghetti carbonara, then some with dippy eggs, fab!
