attaching grub and glug to run sides

Recommended Posts

hello, i have a wood and weldmesh WIR which i would like to attach the grub and glug to the side of so that there is more floor space, as i currently have them on the omlet stand and it takes up a lot of room. has anyone done this and if so how? i want to make sure the chooks wont knock them off when passing or using, and I have around a 15 cm high wooden edge around the bottom of the run which keeps the woodchip inside but also poses a slight problem if thinking of hanging from the weldmesh as i want to make sure they are still reachable (chooks are dotte bantams so not full sized but fairly big for bantams).

if anyone has pics that would be even better! thanks

There was a similar question asked a while back. It was suggested that something like an Ikea cutlery holder might work.

IKEA Kroken (kitchen utensil) rails have also been suggested in the past, but might have discontinued now.

I used these http://www.omlet.co.uk/shop/chicken_keeping/eglu_runs/499/run_skirt_square_-_pair/ One is just wide enough for a standard Glug/Grub so you only need to buy a set. If you use the super Glug you'll need to hang it across two. I just screwed a couple of cup hooks into the kick board and hung them from there or if you need them higher I tied a couple on with garden wire.

oh brilliant ideas thanks very much! in fact AndreaT, I had a thought after i saw your idea that i could just take apart the grub and glug stand that im using now and attach that on to the run! dont know why that didnt spring to mind before so thanks very much! oh and your chickens are all beautiful, in particular the lavender, just lovely.

Thank you! This is an old photo taken on the day I got them I think. They're a lot bigger now, they look tiny there. The lavender was beautiful but turned out to be a cockerel so didn't stay with me for too long!
