pips_pekins
We, (just me and OH, DS is going on a lad's holiday ), are hoping to visit Austria this August and are planning to spend 3 full days in Vienna. It seems that some things don't take place during July/August but as we are limited to school holidays we have no choice. Any suggestions of must dos? I fancy a boat trip and a trip to the opera. Does anyone know how to get cheap standing only tickets? Do they go on sale on the day or is there a way of purchasing them online in advance of our trip? Many thanks in advance

pips_pekins
I'm always browsing the Vienna Tourist board website: http://www.vienna.info/en[/url] Thanks snowberry. I have been on the Vienna Tourist board website a few times to see what events are on during our planned trip but the tickets available seem to be for the more expensive seats. I wondered if you had any practical advice/tips about how best to get the cheap tickets for standing at the opera or if you think we have left it too late - if they aren't available online, does that means they are already sold or can you get them on the day? Also, any information on the best boat trips would be much appreciated? There seem to be a few alternatives and it is always good to know what others would recommend rather than perhaps just taking pot luck
craftyhunnypie
Go up Stefan's Dom - the view is amazing! Be sure to have a real sacher torte - nothing like the real one. Expensive but - oh so flippin' good! Visit the palace & have coffee in The Gloriette. Emma.x
