Charlottechicken
Has anyone been to Newark Park? It's a National Trust property and I visited last week whilst on holiday in Gloucestershire. The place is absolutely crawling with chickens They are all meandering around the front gardens, even digging in the ditch next to the ha-ha. One was standing in a queue by the fast food van, looked like she was reading the menu, whilst another did the rounds under all the tables and chairs, checking for dropped morsels I think We did ask where they came from and were told they are from the farm next door. I think they suit the property brilliantly, and it's certainly worth going along for a visit just to see them all. I don't think I saw two that were the same colour either! The back walled garden has several peafowl lounging about in the flower borders
The Dogmother
Sounds ideal to me - we let our NT membership lapse after we'd visited everywhere in a day's distance, and we often used to go round properties saying 'this is just crying out for a few chickens in the garden'.
