Deb Dav
We are getting a Jack Russell puppy in a couple of weeks and am hoping, with training etc, she won't bother the girls. Does anyone have any experience of hens and JRs?
Cheeky Chooky
We have Terriers who are fine with our and but they do react to our
Lavenders_Blue
Not personally, but our next door neighbour has a JRT which they had from a pup who is fine with their chooks. She even free ranges in the garden with them. I think you should get on better having the dog from a pup, but do bear in mind it's a terrier at the end of the day and bred for many generations to hunt and kill, so I would always advise exercising caution. My terrier X on the other hand has (despite careful management) killed two of my girls, so I don't even let her in the garden unsupervised despite the chickens being penned in. Good luck and have fun with the pup. I adore terriers so am hoping you will post some puppy photos when the wee pup arrives
chuckmum6
My spaniels aren't allow near the girls, the instinct is too strong for me to take the risk, although the only thing they seem keen on is eating the chicken poo!
Lavenders_Blue
Oh yes, they love the chicken poo don't they? Tango does a nightly sweep of the garden, then comes in and wafts her poopy breath in my face - gross!
