My husband and I caught this for the first time ever tonight but have realised this is the third series. What do I need to know. We really liked it. Is he a baddy as accused tonight or not.

 

We both commented that this is the first program in a long time to actually make us jump...and a couple of times too. Don't want to give away any plot spoilers so won't say when.

All the episodes are dark and tense. Luther is a deeply complicated man who seems to find himself in compromising situations. He seems to have a good heart but a volatile streak and an unorthodox way of working, that gets results and a tendency to turn a blind eye from time to time when there is a grey area.

 

I thoroughly enjoyed the first couple of series and Idris Elba is a gorgeous hunk of a man.

 

Edited to say that you must watch the earlier series to get the full picture.

I tried watching the first series - I too didn't realise this was series 3! Watching last night I remembered why I didn't watch any more. Spent most of it hiding behind a cushion and had to read until way past switching light off time as I couldn't get it out of my head I am such a wuss with tension

I watched from behind my iPad until it got to the blender scene then I had to stick my fingers in my ears as well; not sure I want to watch anymore.
