Chicken bald back

Hi Peggy my pied suffolk seemed absolutely fine this morning eating and drinking and laying as usual but a couple of hours ago I went out to check the girls water and food and I found her dead in the run all curled up in a ball

 

I've got completely no idea why as it was so sudden if anyone has any ideas to why or has experienced this please let me know to put my mind at rest

I'm sorry to hear that, what a shock for you . How old was she? I take she hadn't shown any signs of anything being wrong. Sometimes that's the problem, they hide illness too well.

Hi thanks for your condolences she was just 8/9 months old but at least she wasn't in any pain (well I don't think so anyway) she will be sadly missed

 

I keep checking the other girls every 5 mins just to check their ok

So sorry to hear about Peggy. It is such a shock when it is so sudden. One of the chicks I hatched last year seemed fine in the afternoon but early evening was dead in the run, she was only a couple of months old.

Thanks everyone I'm just hoping its not anything contagious ive checked syptoms for mareks, Newcastle etc but nothing stands out I'll just have to keep an eye on the rest of them
