Charlottechicken
OH and I spent last week in North Yorkshire, visiting lots of coastal towns and villages Whilst in Bridlington, enjoying a little stroll around the town, we heard an old chap on a mobility scooter shout "S'cuse me, girls!". He meant us! As he drove past us and we half turned around, he must have realised that OH was not a very tall broad shouldered young lady, but a middle aged bloke with long hair and a beard! He quickly exclaimed "Ooh, sorry!", then watched us walking off. They obviously don't get too many long haired blokes in Bridlington. OH was thrilled, he said he hasn't been mistaken for a girl in many years, since the days when his band dressed very glam in ladies blouses, lots of makeup and big hair. Apparently, many a taxi driver was wrong footed in the early hours of the morning after a gig!
Alis girls
The "girls" would have thrilled me too - at 51 the only guys who chat me up often dont have their own hair or teeth Poor old boy - should've gone to Specsavers.
Charlottechicken
I hadn't thought about it being a compliment for me too. At 47, pushing 48 I should be thankful!

soapdragon
Perhaps I am being cynical but, at nearly 49, if I get a compliment I wonder what the 'complimentee' wants! However, I was chatting to another mum at school last week and we were discussing weather...I mentioned the REALLY hot summer of 76 and she said she was surprised that I could remember it. I said that I'd be 49 in a month or so and she told me that she was surprised as I don't look that old Still can't work out how to take that one
Alis girls
I think as a compliment Soapdragon - you are obviously a yoofful 49 yr old - enjoy

kinsk
Years ago, will be over 20 years ago, a friend of mine was going out with a lad with long hair, they got in the back of a taxi and started having a bit of a cuddle, the taxi driver stopped the cab and said "alright girls that's enough, I'm having none of that in here" don't know who was more mortified! Obviously 20+ years ago the political correctness of it all didn't come into it. I put in a jumper dress yesterday as it's gone a bit nippy, one of the guys at the tyre place next to my office told me I looked very smart, like a school girl told my husband when I got home and he said "well it is rather short love" I'm sure it wasn't as short last year!
