good_egg
Any ideas? We jet washed the house on Saturday but today when you open the egg port of the cube there is a sour smell - almost like lemon or off milk.... No idea what is causing it - anyone got any ideas? redsunset
No idea, unless water could have gathered somewhere in the fixings? Hopefully a day or two could dissipate the smell? I don't have a cube but hopefully some one who does may be able to tell you better what it could be?
libby22
Are your girls all laying ok? I can sometimes find this if one of the girls has laid a softie in the nest box and the liquid runs into the bedding. I can't always see it, as they eat it so quickly, but the small amount of residue can smell sour very quickly. I can only find it if I really fish amongst the bedding. I then empty the lot out, disinfect and start again. Hope you can track it down.
gavclojak
Could the smell be coming from one of your girls? Maybe sour crop? X
good_egg
There is only one girl laying just now,and she didn't bother today... I did have a good fish around in the nest box and no sign of dampness, I'll check again in morning. Perhaps I'll also check the poo trays... Hard to see if anything in them between all Dots moulted feathers... None of them were in the house so I don't think the smell is from them, but again will check.... Tis a mystery! Thanks for help, will report back...
