The law of sod strikes again (ladies stuff!)

Recommended Posts

My YD had an appointment for a foot op last month, which unfortunately had to be cancelled due to her great grandmothers funeral being held up north the day after. She now has her new appointment .....on the same day I had one booked :( If they were at the same hospital, there would have been no problem as I could have been with her in the morning and then gone off for my appointment, but she is in Southampton and mine is in Salisbury.

I am slightly concerned as the secretary said "oh they really did want to see you quite quickly!" Now I am hoping this is down to the GP not referring me when she said she would and them wanting to to be within the 6 weeks waiting time, and not some other reason. I only been referred now after chatting to some girl friends who said I should have been seen by now (it was a month after I had seen the GP for a smear test and the finding of a "rather large polyp"). I have just made a new appointment which is 2 weeks after my original one, but it is quite nerve wracking not knowing what will be found. Oh and incidentally, the smear was a waste of time as she failed to get enough cells! Won't be seeing her again :notalk: Why can't some things just be easy?

Seems to be several things going on here and I am assuming rightly I hope you are seeing a gynaecologist.

The "not enough cells " might be because of polyp, it happens (had it myself ) and as a nurse who does smears it does happen every so often. You need to wait 3 months for cells to regenerate before another smear can be done. I suspect the polyp if its big will need removal as can cause post coital and bleeding in between periods. Hope its sorted soon. Then hopefully next smear will be ok. Hugs Ali x

Yup, have been having problems for years, and yes that who I'll be seeing. That is good to hear re the not enough cells. I do hope it will all be sorted soon, I am just worrying about it all, and what certain symptoms could potentially be. Google is sometimes not a good thing :( I take it, it would be right to wait until after the hospital appointments until I have another smear? Thank you for wisdom; I was hoping you'd answer :D

Stupid thing to say but try not too worry. Not enough cell means what it says it isnt code for anything else.nastier. If the polyp is big when you take the smear it may well occlude the cervical canal making getting cells difficult. I suspect they will whip it off as a day case and re do smear in 3 months. I had abnormal cells at 25 and had laser. was worried sick so I do know what its like, the feeling of dread, I didnt have the knowledge I have now and felt I was doomed. Feel free to PM me. Ali x PS thanks for compliment - never been called wise before.
