I have one large enclosed WIR for four of my girls plus the cockerel. My other two girls are currently in a very small, low run which is then enclosed in a bigger run but it doesnt have a top. Hubby says he thinks we should take the small run out because it is a real hassle when shutting them in at night, cos it is quite hard to fasten up. I was worried that a fox could get in over the top of the run but he says if there isnt anything for it to climb onto such as a roof it wont be able to get up and over - what does anyone think? The run has walls (wire) which are just short of 6ft high.

yes in theory a fox could get over the top it just depends on how flimsy it is

They can scale astonishing heights, so I would be very careful.

Could a cat get in there? If so, then a fox can (and will).

yes they can scale 6t with very little trouble. I would put a roof on it or an electric fence wire round the top

A fox could definately get in. I have a 6ft high weld mesh WIR and my cat regularly climbs it with no difficulty.
